CHARLESTON'S CLIMATE CRISIS MOMENT
Are you concerned about the future of our planet? Worried about what rising sea level and increased hurricanes means for Charleston? Wondering how you can get involved -- whether it's possible to make a difference?
The Climate Crisis Moment, a rally to change our future, features a host of speakers and environmental organizations to get you informed, motivated, and ready for action. The rally coincides with the first day of the Global Climate Strike, a strike in solidarity with the students striking for Fridays For Future, led by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.
We'll have a selection of local environmental and climate change activist organizations tabling and speakers from 3 - 5 pm. The rally has three main purposes:
- to marry personal stories about climate change with a push for Charleston to reduce emissions and commit to action
- to provide an on-ramp for interested parties to become involved with climate activism through local orgs
- and to demonstrate solidarity with youth climate strikers.
We don't have time to waste. There is no Planet B. Show up and get connected with the most existential movement there is: averting true Climate Crisis.
Imagine the impact if half of you reading this were to leave work on Friday after lunch and tell everyone you work with why you are walking out for an afternoon to show solidarity with the Global Climate Strike? It’s going to take great action if we are to end the stagnation and #ActOnClimate
